FAQ
Have a question about this class? Below is a list of common questions (and answers) that I frequently receive. If you have a pressing question that you don't see here, please feel free to email me and I will get back to you as quickly as I can.

Do you accept late homework/assignments?I accept work up to one day late, for half credit. If you complete an assignment after we review/discuss it in class the following day, your assignment will also count for half credit since it was not completed at the time it was due. If you are absent, you have an additional day to make it up (for example, if you are sick on Monday and Tuesday, you have until Thursday to complete the missing assignments for full credit). Any work turned in more than one day late will be scored as a zero.

What if I need the internet for a homework assignment and I do not have internet at home? Please notify me at least one day in advance; I am happy to provide paper copies of the assignment so that you will still be able to complete your work. If I require an electronic copy of an assignment but you do not have internet, you may turn in a paper copy (hard copy) of the assignment. Furthermore, you may opt to sign up for the library after school to complete a homework assignment that requires the internet, or you may attend my stay late day. There are no excuses to miss an assignment due to lack of internet.

When is your stay late day? What if I cannot attend on that day?My stay late day is Tuesday. Stay late days are always posted on the board. If for some reason you cannot attend the after school sessions but need to make up a test, quiz, etc., let me know at least a week in advance; I may be able to temporarily change my day if it is most convenient for a group, or you may stay with another teacher, or I may offer multiple help days if necessary. We will figure out a reasonable way to accomodate make-up or help sessions!

I did poorly on an assessment. Am I allowed to fix it?Yes! You have the remainder of the trimester to make up an assessment that you feel you did poorly on. For example, if you did not do well on a quiz in the second trimester, you will have available all the after school sessions of the second trimester to make up the assessment. I do not assign any "finals" at the end of each trimester, so you are guaranteed at least one help session/stay late day to revise your assessment. You may earn up to half the credit that you lost from the first time you took the assessment (for example: if you did not answer a 10-point question correctly and you lost 6 points on it, you may earn up to 3 points back after revising your answer to make it correct). It is YOUR responsibility if you would like to make up an assessment; I will not seek you out to make revisions, nor will I extend the amount of time to make up an assessment after the trimester it was given. Note: Any assessment that was plagiarized, incorporated cheating in any form, or involved student communication (with anyone other than the teacher) during the assessment will NOT have the opportunity to be retaken or revised. There are no exceptions to this rule.
